WWD Philippines 2019 leaves no one behind in Baseco

National Water Resources Board (NWRB), together with other agency and private partners, joined the World Water Day (WWD) 2019 kickoff activity entitled, “World Water Day 2019: Water Fair” held in March 15, 2019 at the PRRC Livelihood and Mangrove Center, Baseco Compound, Manila.

Carrying this year’s theme “Leaving no one behind (#hawak-kamay, tubig-kaagapay, sa tubig walang iwanan)”, the activity gathered 165 participants from the community to reach out to the people who are still living without safe water.

Representatives from WWD partner-agencies shared their knowledge and expertise on topics related to water. Presentations about Awareness on Environmental Laws and Initiatives, Water and Wastewater, Waste to Livelihood, Solid Waste Management, Environmental Health and Social Welfare were shared during the morning lectures.

The event included an exhibit of livelihood from DPWH, LLDA and Villar Sipag’s Foundation, and an appreciation ceremony for the Baseco Community. One of the side events was the annual sungka tournament sponsored by Maynilad. This year’s Sungka Champion was NWRB’s Mr. Valen V. Juan who bested 32 other players from various government agencies.

This event was organized and facilitated by the River Basin Control Office (RBCO), Manila Water Company Incorporated (MWCI) Maynilad Water Services, Inc. (MWSI), Metropolitan Waterworks and Sewerage System (MWSS) and Pasig River Rehabilitation Commission (PRRC).
