NWRB welcomes Vietnamese delegates
NWRB Executive Director Sevillo D. David Jr. Ph.D, together with NWRB officials, warmly received eight delegates from the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment (MONRE) of Vietnam at the National Water Resources Board office on January 30, 2015.
MONRE Deputy Minister Nguyen Thai Lai headed the delegation composed of members from the different departments of the ministry. The visit aims to learn and understand experiences on policies, water regulation and river basin management in the Philippines.
During the event, Director David and Deputy Minister Lai delivered their welcome and response messages, respectively. A powerpoint on Water Management in the Philippines was presented covering the topics on Country Profile, Water Resources Situationer, Institutional and Legal/Policy Framework, Mandate and Functions of NWRB, Water Challenges and Sector Initiatives.
An open forum was conducted for clarifications as well as exchange of knowledge and experiences on water management. It was learned that the Vietnam Law on Water Resources took effect on January 2013.
The Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment is a government ministry in Vietnam responsible for land, water resources, mineral resources, geology, environment, hydrometeorology, climate change, surveying and mapping, and management of the islands and the sea. The delegation also visited other Philippine government offices such as Bureau of Soils and Water Management (BSWM) and Laguna Lake Development Authority (LLDA).
