NWRB Celebrates World Water Day with the Conduct of a National Dialogue on the Revision of the Water Code

Seeking to strengthen the resource regulation and promote more efficient use of the country’s water resources, the National Water Resources Board (NWRB) is pursuing the review and revision of Presidential Decree No. 1067, otherwise known as the Water Code of the Philippines.

Vietnamese1NWRB Executive Director Sevillo D. David Jr. Ph.D, together with NWRB officials, warmly received eight delegates from the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment (MONRE) of Vietnam at the National Water Resources Board office on January 30, 2015.
MONRE Deputy Minister Nguyen Thai Lai headed the delegation composed of members from the different departments of the ministry. The visit aims to learn and understand experiences on policies, water regulation and river basin management in the Philippines. 

NARBOIn celebration of NARBO's 10th year anniversary, a two-day conference was held at the Oakwood Premier Joy-Nostalg Center Manila, Ortigas Center on November 19 to 20 participated by member organizations  and partners.
Working with the theme “Looking back a decade of NARBO Achievements and identifying the future direction of NARBO,” this year's celebration was packed with several presentations and workshops to take stock of its achievements,  identify the lessons learned and track its directions in the coming years.

Capacity BuildingEleven Philippine delegates from NWRB, National Irrigation Authority (NIA), Philippine Atmospheric Geophysical and Astronomical Agency (PAGASA), National  Power Corporation (NPC), and Manila Water Company Inc. (MWCI) led by NWRB Deputy Executive Director Jorge Estioko visited Korea to attend the first training on Capacity Building Course in Geographic Information Systems (GIS) Development for Management Level held on December 1-6, 2014 at the K-Water Academy in Daejeun.

NWRB joined other regions in the Asia-Pacific in the Fourth Regional Workshop on Integrated Resource Management in Asian Cities: The Urban Nexus held in Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia on November 5-7, 2014.

NWRB Executive Director Sevillo D. David Jr. warmly received more than twenty Land Resource Management post-graduate students from the University Putra Malaysia (UPM) at the National Water Resources Board office on November 27, 2014.

Environment and Natural Resources Secretary Ramon Jesus Paje sworn into office Engr. Jorge Estioko as the Deputy Executive Director of the National Water Resources Board and two other DENR officials including Atty. Jonas Leones as Undersecretary and Region 8 Technical Director Danilo Javier as Director III.

         Environment and Natural Resources Secretary Ramon Paje, Presidential Communications Operations Office Secretary Herminio “Sonny” Coloma Jr., and Philippine Information Agency Director-General Jose Mari Oquiñena led the National Conference on Climate Change Advocacy Campaign held at the Social Hall of DENR on December 3, 2014.
