WATER SECTOR PREPARES FOR EL NIÑO MITIGATION

Quezon City - Metro Manila water users are encouraged to use water wisely in preparation for the effects of stronger El Niño in the last quarter of the year up to the first months of 2016. Though heavy rains are intermittently experienced in the metro, these may only last until September according to PAGASA.

Quezon City – We must conserve water through wise and efficient use NOW. This is the unified message of the members of the Technical Working Group (TWG) on Angat Reservoir Operations and Management led by the National Water Resources Board with the  MWSS, NIA, PAGASA, NAPOCOR and the Metro Manila water concessionaires, Maynilad and Manila Water, in a Press Conference on El Niño and Metro’s Water Supply at the NWRB Office.

Executive Director Sevillo D. David Jr, together with Engr. Jorge M. Estioko (Deputy Executive Director) and Engr. Jesusa T. Roque (Engr. III, Policy Formulation Section), participated in the inspection and briefing of the Angat Dam and Dike Strengthening Project (ADDSP) on July 23 at the Angat Hydropower Plant in Norzagaray, Bulacan.

NWRB employees and officials were among the thousands who took part in the simulated earthquake drill in Metro Manila on July 30, 2015.

Earthquake Drill
At exactly 10:30 a.m., fire alarms rung in the National Irrigation Administration (NIA) building where the NWRB office is located. All personnel followed the “dock, cover, hold” position before systematically going down from the 8th floor through the main staircase and different fire exits.
